Where the idea for Punnus table light came from?

"The low current and small size of the LEDs enabled a whole new design language for the lamps. I wanted to offer customers something really light and sculptural as a lighting solution. Something that wouldn't block the view over the dining table and would allow the room to breathe."

Designing the Punnus table light

"I sketched out a number of ideas and from these, a mobile-like structure and character was selected for further development that met my initial requirements. We made a 3D model of the lamp and set about prototyping it with the manufacturer. After some head scratching, the technical solutions were found. The pendant lamp came first and it was easy to derive a table lamp from it as the technical details were the same as the wooden part."

"The initial objectives were well met by the lamp; it is light, airy, sculptural, does not take up space and does not block the view. It is important that the lamp illuminates well and does not glare. But it is also important how it looks in daylight without its own light. A pendant light meets these requirements and is ideal for illuminating the dining table and giving the interior a certain look. This table lamp continues along the same lines."

Manufacturing the Punnus table light

The table light is made by a Finnish manufacturer. The wooden parts are made with a CNC machine, but finished by hand. Electrical work and assembly is also done by hand.
