HOW TO MAINTAIN WITHOUT WORRY?
Regular maintenance extends the product's lifespan. By remembering these few basic tips, and even marking them in your calendar if necessary, enjoying your furniture worry-free will be easy.
- IMMEDIATELY | Spot clean stubborn stains: with a damp cloth for plastic or wood surfaces, with textile cleaner for textiles*
- WEEKLY | Dust, vacuum textiles with a textile nozzle and fluff pillows
- MONTHLY | Check the tightness of sofa legs and armrests and air bedding (folding instructions for the bedding are at the end of this page)
- BIANNUALLY | If possible, rotate sofa seat cushions and change the position of back cushions
- ANNUALLY | Perform a full check and if necessary, you can order new spare or additional parts from Tapio Anttila's online store
* Stain removal:
Remove stains from the fabric surface as soon as possible to prevent them from soaking in. You can first try to absorb damp stains with a clean, undyed cloth and, if necessary, use a cleaning agent intended for upholstery. Always test the cleaning agent on a small, hidden area first to ensure it is suitable for the specific fabric.
If spot cleaning does not help, the covers can be removed and washed. When washing, follow the fabric-specific washing instructions and we recommend using professional laundry services even for water-washable covers.
Wood parts can be wiped with a dry or damp cloth as needed.
GENERAL TIPS
Safety first - be mindful of the correct lifting technique when extending and closing a sofa bed. To ensure sturdiness, it's good to periodically tighten the screw connections of the legs and armrests.
Since sofa bed covers are loose upholstery, they may shift or wrinkle with use. In this case, the fabric can be smoothed and repositioned. The hook-and-loop fastening allows for tightening the covers. All fabrics stretch and when there's no more room for smoothing, washing will shrink the covers back into shape.
Wooden parts darken over time due to light exposure. Additionally, areas that are frequently touched often darken more due to dirt and grease from hands. If these darkened areas become bothersome, they can be lightened by renewing the product's surface treatment. For this, it is advisable to consult professionals and you can also ask us for advice if needed.
Regularly wiping surfaces prevents ingrained dirt.
PRODUCT-SPECIFIC TIPS
Day&Night sofa bed
The loose seat cushions of the sofa bed will wear out normally with prolonged use. When there are two mattresses stacked on top of each other, it's advisable to regularly switch the positions of the lower and upper mattresses. The mattress set should be flipped over and sometimes rotated 180 degrees horizontally inside the cover so that they wear evenly.
ON2 sofa bed
The upper frame of the sofa bed, which serves as the seating surface, should be rotated periodically – the front edge to the back and the back edge to the front. This way, the sofa maintains its shape longer. The stretching of the sofa's removable covers is easy to even out thanks to the hook-and-loop fastening. This also allows the covers to be removed for washing.
