Description

The Goblin figurine is part of the Tapio's Creature collection, which draws its inspiration from Finnish folklore. This decorative item is made of solid pine, the surface of which is burnt and lacquered, giving each figurine a unique look.

Each Goblin figurine is completely unique, as the production uses surplus material from other productions. This means that the figurines may have various cracks, differences in tone or other peculiarities, making each piece a completely unique individual.

At the bottom of the figurine is a metal plate engraved with the figurine's name and the designer's signature, emphasising the uniqueness and origin of the product.

The Goblin figurine is not only a decorative item, but also brings a piece of Finnish tradition and lore, enriching the atmosphere of your home and sparking discussions among your guests.

Where the idea for Goblin figurine came from?

"Many design furniture brands have a decorative item in their collection that acts as a brand ambassador and symbolises the brand's values or presence in general. We decided that we needed one too, but it had to be something Finnish and original and give our customers something surprising, a story and a fun experience."

Designing the Goblin figurine

"I met the challenge with enthusiasm, but I couldn't find an idea of what this thing would be, because I had already seen a lot of bird figurines. After a long search, I came up with Finnish elves and gnomes, which were completely unexplored territory from a design point of view. You could make up endless stories about them and they would fit our brand perfectly. The pen went to work right away and we made 3D models of my sketches, which we used to make some prototypes in production."

"The figures are clearly decorative objects, works of art or miniature sculptures - however you want to define them. But they are also objects of use, if you want to experience them as such, either with humour or a little more seriously. The figurines are perfect as gifts, for housewarming or summer cottage visits, or just for yourself. They will find a place on the mantelpiece, on the shelf, on the windowsill, in the sauna and in many other nooks and crannies."

A story behind the Goblin figurine

The package comes with a leaflet that tells you a little about the history of the figures, what they meant to the Finnish people of the past, who believed in them and for whom they were an everyday occurrence. There are also instructions for us modern people who have forgotten how to behave around gnomes and elves. If you misbehave, the characters can get into mischief, and the brochure therefore states that we take no responsibility for this.

The figurine series consists of three different characters, Household Spirit, Sauna Gnome and Goblin. We aim to keep this figurine in stock at all times, so delivery is quick. Manufacturing the Goblin figurine

We make the figurines made by a Finnish carpentry workshop. They are milled from scrap pine wood using a CNC machine. The finishing touches are done by hand.
