In October 2025, we organized a lighthearted "Call Us" campaign. It was a lot of fun, so let’s do it again! On Friday, March 13th, we’ll be available for 13 hours straight.

Where the idea for Aski XL mirror came from?

"The Aski range of side and coffee tables I made earlier proved popular. We started to think about how we could develop the unique design further, and vary it with new furniture to expand the range. We did some exploring to see what we could get out of it and pretty quickly decided to expand into affordable wall furniture."

Designing the Aski XL mirror

"I wondered how I could utilise the same parts of our previous floor furniture, which were based on the old hat box manufacturing techniques. Pretty quickly a round wall shelf and cabinet started to take shape, with the diameter dimension coming directly from the M size side table, and a mirror based on an XL side table. These were easy to prototype because the raw parts were already there."

"The wall shelf and the cabinet became fun because they were different from what was available. They are interior design elements in themselves, which stand out in a room even without any items. A typical use is certainly to store the most valuable treasures, which are framed in a home altar-like frame. But why not as a everyday object, for example in the hallway. The mirror is clearly a practical object, but it makes even the most boring space more fun."

A story behind the Aski XL mirror

"We had a section at the Habitare design fair, which we called Kimppakämppä. Some guy came up and told us he was our namesake - so his surname was Kimppa. It turned out that they also had a section where they showed their hat boxes made in the traditional Finnish way. We went to see them and I immediately asked if they could start making us something out of those. The journey of the popular Aski range had begun."

"You can easily order this mirror from our online shop and have it delivered to your home free of charge. The entire Aski range comes in three colour options: birch, black or white. We aim to keep this mirror in stock at all times, so delivery is quick. If you have any questions about delivery or anything else, please send us an email or give us a call."

Manufacturing the Aski XL mirror

The mirror is made by our contract manufacturer. This is the same manufacturer who has been making traditional Finnish hat boxes in Ostrobothnia since the 1950s. The production is entirely handmade, where straight birch plywood is bent into round boxes.
