Where the idea for Palapala divider came from?

"The kitchen, dining area and living room are a single open space in around 90% of new homes. The aim is to create a sense of space and spaciousness. Sometimes a light and transparent partition is needed to structure the space and provide some privacy, while still allowing the room to breathe. This was the starting point for the design of the divider."

"In my childhood in the 70s, it became fashionable to have apartments where the living room and kitchen were in the same space. It was a really radical idea. Even then there was a need for room dividers, so you made them yourself out of rolls of yarn and string and who knows what else. It was this culture that inspired Palapala."

The divider is made by our contract manufacturer. The manufacturer has been producing plywood products in Ostrobothnia since the 1950s. All production is handmade.
