This special edition ON2 sofa bed features loose cushions made from Nereus fabric, woven in Finland and designed by textile artist Johanna Gullichsen.

The green-toned fabric, made of 100% cotton, was chosen by our customers as the winner of the annual ON2 special edition vote. This series celebrates Finnish design collaboration and community, giving our customers the chance to influence our product selection.

The ON2 Wood sofa bed is designed to support everyday life and adapt to different needs. By day, it serves as a comfortable and stylish sofa, and by night, it effortlessly transforms into a spacious double bed (160 x 200 cm) or two separate beds (2 x 80 x 200 cm)—no complicated mechanisms required. This makes it an excellent choice for a living room, guest room, or holiday home.

The frame is crafted from high-quality birch plywood, giving the sofa both strength and lightness. The washable fabric upholstery is timeless and practical—the removable covers make cleaning easy and allow you to refresh the look whenever needed.

Where the idea for ON2 Wood Nereus came from?

"Johanna and I have known each other for a long time. Every so often we’d say we should do a project together—and now it has finally happened! The ON2 sofa bed and the Nereus fabric share something in common: timelessness. So it was no surprise that they work so beautifully together. The idea behind this special edition is to offer our customers an easy way to refresh the look of their sofa and bring more possibilities for interior design."

Designing the ON2 Wood Nereus

“In 1996, I designed the Nereus pattern as part of the Normandie series. My goal was to create a fabric that is structured and timeless. From the very beginning, Nereus has been woven in Finland. We use organically grown cotton yarns dyed domestically, as sustainable production and high quality are of utmost importance to me. The pattern is built from rhythmic rows of squares and bars. The fabric is named after the Greek sea god Nereus, whose wisdom and calm are reflected in its timeless design.”

ON2 Wood Nereus in use

The functionality of the sofa bed is exactly the same as the standard ON2 Wood sofa beds. It works without mechanisms, where the top bed frame is lifted next to the bottom one to form a double bed or, if required, two separate beds. The beds are easily converted back to the sofa position by simply lifting the upper frame on top of the lower frame - and the sofa is ready.

A story behind the ON2 Wood Nereus

"At first, we planned to release the Nereus special edition only as removable covers. But when we introduced them to our insider community, many asked: “What if I don’t yet have an ON2 sofa bed, but would love it with the Nereus covers?” The solution was clear. We created this ready-made set, which conveniently includes both the ON2 sofa bed and Johanna Gullichsen’s Nereus covers."

Manufacturing the ON2 Wood Nereus

The sofas are manufactured by our trusted contract partner in Estonia. The Nereus covers are custom-made in Lahti, sewn from Johanna Gullichsen’s original Nereus fabric. This structured upholstery fabric has been woven in Finland since 1997. The organic cotton yarns are dyed domestically, and sustainable production ensures the highest quality.

Appreciated by professionals

Immediately after its launch in 2007, the sofa bed was chosen as the winner of the Furniture of the Year award. This was decided by the readers of Avotakka magazine, who voted for their favourites. Consumers were fascinated by the completely new, mechanism-free concept of the sofa bed. The design was also something new, something not seen in sofa beds before. They were not used to seeing design in them anyway. Design was not usually seen in them.

Kaunis, mukava ja toimiva

Sohva on minulla kakkosasunnossani, jossa nukun muutaman yön viikossa. Sohvalla pystyy yksin nukkumaan ilman, että sitä täytyy avata. Olen nukkunut siinä parhaat yöunet pitkiin aikoihin!
Sohvalla on myös mukava istua ja löhöillä. Ja onhan tämä markkinoiden kaunein sohva ylipäätään!

Jos jotain kritiikkiä pitää antaa, niin ehkä petareiden laittamisesta päätytyynyihin. Minulla se ei näin jatkuvassa käytössä toimi, vaikka onkin sinänsä hyvä idea. Sohvassa ei myöskään ole vuodevaatelaatikkoa, minkä olen ratkaissut sisustuksessa muulla tavalla.
Sohvaa voin silti lämpimästi suositella.

Vaikea pitää puhtaana

Kaunis ja erittäin käytännöllinen vuodesohva, joka on meillä kovassa käytössä. Verhoilukangas vain ei ole kovin kiitollinen lapsiperheessä. Sohvani on tumman harmaa ja sen pinta on pilalla, vaikka en ole hangannut ja puhdistukseen olen käyttänyt vain vettä. Aiempien kangassohvieni kanssa ei ole koskaan käynyt näin. En siis suosittele lapsi- tai kotielänperheisiin.

Täydellinen valinta mökillemme

Olemme todella tyytyväisiä tähän vuodesohvaan. Sen kaunis yksinkertainen muotoilu tuo tyylikkyyttä ja käytännöllisyys tekee siitä ihanteellisen niin arkeen kuin yövieraita varten. Vuodesohva on myös erittäin mukava istua että nukkua. Suosittelen lämpimästi kaikille, jotka etsivät tyylikästä ja monipuolista suomalaista huonekalua!

Sohva on kaunis ja tyylikäs, siinä on hyvä istua ja makoilla.

Tyylikäs ja helppokäyttöinen

Sohva on livenä yhtä kaunis kuin kuvissa. Arvostan erityisesti sitä, että suunnittelussa on otettu ulkonäön lisäksi toiminnallisuus. Sohva on ollut meillä käytössä jo useita kertoja sänkynä, joten tykkään siitä, että osia on erittäin kevyt nostella, purkaa sängyiksi ja kasata takaisin sohvaksi. On niin paljon parempi, että vuodesohvassa ei ole turhaa mekaniikkaa. Mittasuhteiltaan tosi kaunis sohva istuu täydellisesti meidän yksiöön ja pieneen tilaan.

Kaunis vieras sohva

Silmää miellyttävä muotoilu . Kätevä yösija kahdelle,helppo nostaa vuoteet vaikka eri seinille . Ei turhia mekanismeja.

Vuodesohva

Ostimme vieraita ajatellen On2Wood Hopper 67 vuodesohvan. Tuote on hyvin tehty, kaunis ja käytännöllinen ja lisäksi kotimainen. Istumamukavuus todella hyvä, vuoteena käytön lisäksi. 3 vuotta sitten tyttäremme sai muuttolahjaksi vastaavanlaisen sohvan, joten tiesimme tuotteen mitä mainioimmaksi ! Suosittelen :)
