TAPIO ANTTILA

Finnish interior architect Tapio Anttila is an awarded and versatile freelance designer. Simplicity, ascetic form language and functionality, not forgetting subtle humor, are the best words to describe his design.

VERSATILE

An interior architect and a designer based in Lahti Finland, Tapio Anttila (b. 1962) is a versatile freelance designer. Anttila works extensively in fields of object, concept and interior design. He is particularly interested in wood and working it in a modern way, while still honoring traditions. When designing furniture, he focuses on functional pieces for home and public space.

INTERNATIONAL

After years as an inhouse designer, in 2005 Anttila established his own business, Tapio Anttila Design. Anttila’s clients include many Finnish companies and also Italian companies i.a. Riva1920. Products designed by Tapio Anttila are available in design stores in Finland and around the world, for instance at MOMA Design Store in New York. Recently he started a new career as co-founder and main designer in the manufacturer company called Nordic Hysteria.

AWARDED

Anttila’s design has recieved several high-profile international design awards, like eight times Good Design Awards for various products, Green Good Desing Award and two times EcoDesign Award for sustainable design. He was also awarded as the Furniture Designer of the Year 2012 by the Finnish Association of Designers Ornamo.

ECOLOGICAL

Ecological aspects are one of the most leading values in Tapio Anttila’s design. Simplicity, ascetic form language and functionality not forgetting subtle humor are the best words to describe his design.

Stockholm Furniture Fair and Stockholm design week!

Tapio Anttila Collection is exhibited in Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair in Sweden 9.–13.2.2016, which is the world’s largest meeting place for Scandinavian furniture and lighting design. Welcome to C05:31!

Tapio Anttila is giving presentation in The Materials Library (Materialbiblioteket). The lecture is about wood trends in design around the world. Tapio will also share his knowledge on new woodworking technology and how it provides new design possibilities.
