Tapio's strongly Finnish and practical design once again managed to stand out from the huge international flow of products when the Chicago Museum of Architecture and Design awarded the PIENA chair 2022 Good Design Award. Although designing a chair is challenging, there is one distinctive detail about PIENA chair- a recycled leather strap connects the backrest spindles. The small detail adds comfort and gives the chair a distinctive look.
The Habitare fair was organized again after few years break. We participated in the fair and it went very well for us. At the fair, we launched the newest sofa bed in our collection, pine-framed Kaiku, and presented other novelties that came to the collection during the year. The Kaiku sofa bed attracted the attention of Habitare's International Friend 2022 Joseph Grima with its material and received the Most Interesting Material award.
We are participating in the Design Helsinki event in cooperation with Lucia Lasipaviljonki. We implemented a collaboration project under the name "Tapio Anttila x Lucia Glass Pavilion", which will operate as a pop-up store alongside the event until August 31, 2022 in Keskuskatu, Helsinki.
The Day&Night sofa bed was awarded the Prize Designs for Modern Furniture + Lighting Winner award. The recognition is one of the most significant in Tapio's design career and internationally unique. Originally the award was established in 1949 by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) and seven decades later it was relaunched by Global Design News and the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
At this year's housing fair in Naantali, our products are displayed in 5. Honka Haiku and 10. Villa Aalto. At Honka Haiku you’ll find the Frendi sofa bed, Jat-ko workstation and products from the Renki series. At Villa Aalto, on the other hand, you can find our new Piena chair and the DIY collection which Tapio designed for K-Rauta. The setting in Naantali's Luonnonmaa is wonderful, so it's a pleasure to be a part of it.

The Renki series, made of waste material from sofa beds, won the world's most prestigious Green Good Design Award. The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design has awarded the Green Good Design Awards since 2007 for ecological and responsible innovation in seven different categories from architecture to products. It is nice to note that responsibility and sustainable development are a rapidly evolving trend in the industry.
In the beginning of the year, our retailer network expanded when our department opened at the Stockmann store in Jumbo Shopping Center in Vantaa in the beginning of February. At the same time, our collection also became available on Stockmann's online store.
The GOOD DESIGN® Award is given each year to the world's best new products. The world's most famous brands compete in different categories. This time, the concept of JAT-KO dining furniture from Tapio's own collection was awarded. The world's oldest and most prestigious design award is given by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and is already Tapio's 20th GOOD DESIGN® Award.
The Aski series has expanded with more products when we also released the Aski lights in December. The M- and XL-sized pendant lights and plafonds follow a familiar, round shape. All products in the Aski series are manufactured in Finland.
The novelty of the JAT-KO product series offers a practical solution for working from home. The new Jat-ko desk functionally resembles a traditional bureau, but offers a modern workstation for the home office.
The RENKI product series is the first of the new product families in the Tapio Anttila Collection's responsibility theme. As the material for our new Renki series, which consists of small products, we utilize the surplus pieces of the frame planks of our sofa beds.
Tapio Anttila Collection has been awarded the Häme ELY Centre's Company Development Grant for the project “Developing a Responsibility and Product Service Concept for the International Market”.

New products from Tapio Anttila Collection, the LIMI chair and KOSMOS lamp, were awarded with the international GOOD DESIGN® Award 2017. The products received the award alongside other world famous brands. The award was the seventh GOOD DESIGN® Award for the Tapio Anttila Collection products and the 13th award for designer Tapio Anttila.
